Dr Pam McKay
Consultant Haematologist – Beatson, West of Scotland Cancer Centre
Dr McKay is a Consultant Haematologist at the Beatson, West of Scotland Cancer Centre and an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Glasgow School of Medicine. She has a specialist interest in lymphoma and is actively involved in lymphoma at a regional and national level. She is currently a member of the NCRI high grade lymphoma and Hodgkin’s lymphoma Clinical Studies Subgroups and is a member of the BSH Lymphoma Special Interest Group.
She is a strong supporter of clinical trials and is principal investigator for many lymphoma trials (commercial and non-commercial) at the Beatson. She has been involved in the development of Regional Clinical Management Guidelines for most lymphoma subtypes. She is lead author and co-author on a number of BCSH lymphoma guidelines and continues to publish in the field of lymphoma. She is member of the Medical Advisory Panel for the Lymphoma Association and contributes to writing and updating the charity’s lymphoma information booklets. She is also a member of Blood Cancer UK Healthcare Professional Advisory Panel.

Dr Richard Soutar
Consultant Haematologist – Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service Dr Soutar graduated in medicine from the University of Dundee and later undertook his postgraduate medical and haematology training in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Hamilton, Ontario.
He has been a Consultant haematologist since 1996 and works in a joint position with the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service. He is based between the Beatson Oncology Centre, Gartnavel General Hospital and West of Scotland Regional Transfusion centre, all in Glasgow. Dr Soutar’s principal subspecialty interests are multiple myeloma and Transfusion Medicine.

Dr David Irvine
Consultant Haematologist and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer – National Allogeneic Haemopoietic Stem Cell Transplant and CAR-T cell Service in Glasgow.

Dr Irvine undertook his specialist training in the West of Scotland. He completed a fellowship in leukaemia and stem cell transplantation in Vancouver Canada in 2006 and later undertook his PhD studies in leukaemic stem cell biology at the Paul O’ Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre in in Glasgow in 2013. Dr Irvine was appointed as a Consultant Haematologist in 2014 and specialises in haemopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy.

Professor John Gibson
Emeritus Professor of Oral Medicine John Gibson is Emeritus Professor of Oral Medicine in the University of Aberdeen. He is also a non-Executive Director of Healthcare Improvement Scotland and Chairman & Trustee of The Canmore Trust (SC051511). John was previously Chairman of Fitness to Practise at the General Dental Council, Chairman of Dental Protection Ltd and a non-Executive Director of the Medical Protection Society.
John’s career in academic Oral Medicine culminated in his appointment as Director of the Institute of Dentistry and Professor of Oral Medicine in the University of Aberdeen. John’s youngest son, Cameron, died by suicide in 2019, aged 24 years, and this resulted in a period of mental ill-health for John, leading to his resignation from full-time academic work.
John now spends much of his time in suicide prevention and suicide postvention, having established The Canmore Trust in early 2022, trained as a facilitator with Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS) and joined the National Suicide Prevention Leadership Group’s Lived Experience Panel. He is passionate about suicide prevention and encouraging good mental health.
John will be speaking about the work of The Canmore Trust and his experience of completing LEJOG. He will also talk about how approach changes to ensure wellbeing and implement suicide safety plans.

Dr Scott Wright
Post-CCT Specialty Registrar in Paediatric Dentistry – NHS Education for Scotland

Scott graduated with BDS with Honours from the University of Glasgow in 2016. After completing Vocational Training in Ayrshire, Scotland he completed Core Training in the Public Dental Service and Glasgow Dental Hospital & School rotating through Paediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine. Following this, Scott completed his Specialty Training in Paediatric Dentistry in Liverpool University Dental Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. He is now undertaking his Post-CCST Specialty Training within Glasgow Dental Hospital & School and the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.

Dr Mairead Hennigan
Specialty Registrar in Paediatric Dentistry – NHS Education for Scotland

Mairead received her degree in dentistry from University College Cork, Ireland, in 2017. After working as a dental associate, she undertook dental core training in paediatric dentistry, and oral and maxillofacial surgery in Lothian. Following this, she worked as a paediatric dental officer in the public dental service in Edinburgh. She is currently carrying out specialty training in Paediatric Dentistry in Glasgow Dental Hospital and School, and the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.
